Yeah, I know I posted a review of this on the site already (well actually it was the first post on the site!), but I thought I’d put some more information about the book in here. Yet again, I’m not being paid for this endorsement or anything, but it’s a good book and it like I said in the About > This SiteĀ section, this is the book that inspired me to develop a self-help site for geeks and nerds.
I don’t want to call what he’s put together a system by any means. But what he did create was a book that’s full of useful information for the creatively obsessed individual.
He covers most of the stuff that’s really required to remake your life, or I should say restructure your life in a way that’s tailored to geeks and nerds. You’ll find that I refer back to this book a lot in my writing on the site and that I’ve gone through and revamped and expanded on a number of the ideas he presented in the book. Really I can’t say enough good stuff about this book.
The book is irreverent at times, possibly blasphemous. But it’s a lot of fun and he uses instances from his own process of changing himself from a fat, mediocre, booze hound, into the celebrity he is now.
If you’re reading this site and enjoying what’s been written about here, I highly recommend you pick yourself up a copy and while you’re at it, if you haven’t already, you should pick yourself up a pad of graph paper to start your character tome (I recommend one with a front and back cover so you can carry it around with you for long time). Oh and the book isn’t that long of a read (at least it didn’t seem that long) it took me about 6 hours worth of reading on my phone (I must be crazy, reading books on a Blackberry Curve!) to get through it. I did that over a few weeks reading between classes and riding the bus around campus.
