Getting Started: The Nerdist Way

I thought to get started on the new site, I’d write up a review on the book that resulted in the synthesis of a few different ideas which have crystallized into Geek PowerUp.

Chris Hardwick, to be honest, I hadn’t heard of the guy before I picked up an issue of Wired with an excerpt from the book in it (I don’t watch E and I haven’t ever watched much MTV). I thought the whole concept of geeks learning to harness their natural abilities to help them excel in life. After read the excerpt I had to get a copy of the book. So I picked up a Kindle version of the book and started devouring it.

The Nerdist Way book coverThere were some areas that I thought were pretty “well duh” but the author warns about that right up front.

Even with the duh moments, the book is written in a format that makes it easy to understand and it’s mixed in with a lot of self-deprecating humor mixed in. The book covers personal development from a nerd perspective (obviously), but it covers pretty much every aspect of life. Everything from personal development (what makes you, you), to making sure you’re healthy (diet and exercise), time management and finances.

All in all, if you consider yourself a geek and haven’t figured yourself out, The Nerdist Way (along with this site here!) is a great place to start.

Here’s an Amazon link to order a copy for yourself: Click Here Yo! (and in compliance the FTC regulations, I’m not being paid to endorse this, although I should be!)
